Piano Lessons

With soccer season winding down, Ella Peyton has started taking piano lessons. She had asked over and over to take lessons, so it was a bit like Christmas to her to finally get to start.

In my unbiased (ok, semi-unbiased) opinion, she has taken to piano like a duck to water. She is soaking in everything she is taught and is so eager to practice what she's learned. In fact, she has even begun composing! I kid you not. After only her third lesson, she sat down one night and started writing. Not that she's written a concerto yet, but if this child decides to stick with this, I think she will do really well. Her enthusiasm for playing is phenominal.

I should also mention, that Ella Peyton is taking lessons from the same woman, Alegria Hibbets, that I did for 12+ years. Alegria is one of the finest pianists I have ever heard. Back in the day, in addition to teaching, she used to travel and play concerts abroad in addition to here in the U.S. She is extremely talented and a wonderful match for Ella Peyton. Ella Peyton is having so much fun, and I believe Alegria is thoroughly enjoying her time with Ella Peyton as well. We're so thankful that she is still teaching. I think we all agree that it's a very special thing not only that she's teaching our daughter, but Carl Teel's grand-daughter as well. He would so enjoy all of this!
