Central Market Cooking School

Jeffrey and I are looking forward to attending a class tonight at the Central Market cooking school. I don't think there are enough flex points in the world to cover what we're about to consume, but what the hell, you only live once, right?

The instructor will be Bradley Manchester, Executive Chef of the Monarch Restaurant at the Hotel Zaza. Tonight’s menu will include Butternut Squash Soup with Spiced Croutons & Tarragon Oil; Fall Salad with Pears, Gorgonzola & Walnut Vinaigrette; Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Aged Cheddar Risotto & Roasted Root Vegetables; and Chocolate Pumpkin Crème Brûlee with Spiced Pecans & Rum Sauce. Just the notion of it all makes me want to start reaching for my fat pants.

Regardless, we're looking forward to getting "out on the town" for a fun date night. Bon Appetit!

Your date sounds like SO much fun! What a great idea! I'm sure Macon doesnt offer cultured stuff like this... it's too bad.

Don't worry - you get 35 flex points each week; that should cover your meal, right?! :)

Is this the same son, that was at our house, last weekend, that was ordering all the healthy food??

SO... how was it?

It was fun! The food was delish, and most of it we can make again at home (I don't think I'm going to be investing in a torch to make creme brulee!).

It ended up being led by the new chef at the Monarch - Aaron Neeley - which was just as well as far as we were concerned. He did a great job.

Also interesting was the fact that this class was originally supposed to be held in September, but got pushed out due to Ike - hence, all of the fall inspired dishes. Didn't realize that when we booked it.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and we're scouring the schedule to see what else we might want to try in the next few months.
