Our block had a back to school shindig for the kids today. The festivities lasted all afternoon and I think it's safe to say the kids are all completely worn out! They had a great time and definitely enjoyed the last few hours of summer break. I've been seriously considering a move to a neighborhood like that. Ours has been getting more and more dangerous (two robberies and a murder in the past six weeks within 200 ft. of our house), and the kids don't have anybody their age to play with.
Aren't you guys in Westbury? That's where my brother is. Apparently, he's been broken into twice recently. Sounds like people were watching the house, since they were robbed when they went out of town. Crazy scary.
I will say, this is probably the best move we could have made. It makes SUCH a difference to be in a neighborhood w/so many other young families. Quality of life w/kids definitely went up.

The tough part right now is realizing that to move to a better neighborhood, we either need to triple our house payment or double my commute. Or even both, depending on location.
