The Hamilton Elementary Chess Club had their final meeting and recognition ceremony this morning. The kids got one last chance to play each other and were also provided with awards for the various rankings they earned throughout the school year.
Duncan ended up with the ranking of Queen, just shy of the King ranking (it apparently goes pawn, rook, knight, etc. up to King). The only 2 kids in the King ranking were a 1st grader and a kindergartener. And apparently the kindergartener has been ranked #1 in the state for the past 2 years. Yikes. Snaps for her.
Anyway, Duncan has had a BLAST participating in Chess Club this year and hopefully the school he attends next year will offer something similar. He would definitely be first in line to sign up!
