Decorating Gingerbread Houses

Amongst the several cooking classes that Central Market offers, they offer a Gingerbread House Decorating Class. I've been trying for a couple of years - both in Houston and Austin - to get the older kids signed up to go, but unfortunately they tend to fill up really quickly and there's never been space.

Somehow the stars aligned this year and there was room when we went to enroll. So, as a special treat, we took the older two kids (it's for kids 5 and up) to the class today and let them have at it. They both seemed to have a good time, as did Jeffrey and I. You wouldn't believe the tray of candy they brought out to decorate with. It was insane how much and how many different kinds of candy there were to choose from.

The houses turned out pretty cute. Since they are 100% edible, the real temptation at this point is going to be leaving them alone until Christmas. Ella Peyton has already talked about trying to eat the backside of her house!
