Last Day of School

Hip hip hooray, we now have a 2nd grader and middle schooler in the house! Friday was the last day of school for both Duncan and Ella Peyton. It was a quickie on Friday, with early release at 11.

The school did a nice culmination ceremony for the 5th graders with speeches from both Mr. Jim Rose, the River Ridge Elementary Principal and Susan Sullivan, the Canyon Ridge Middle School principal.

Duncan is really excited to go onto middle school. So far, he's stated that he's looking forward to better lunches (as the school cafeteria there has many more options), band, and a building with 3 stories.  I suspect he will end up getting quite a bit more out of the experience than that, but at this point, those items to an 11 year old are HUGE. It will be fun to see how excited he gets next school year when it all gets rolling and he realizes how much more the school offers that he can participate in. I suspect he will be a bit like a kid in a candy shop.
