The Nutcracker

As a special treat, Ella and I went to see The Nutcracker yesterday. She had so much fun getting dressed up and going out to the theater! It was fun for me to see her take it all in. It struck me how huge and urban everything seemed to her. I guess I forget how while we basically live in a big city, our lives are pretty well contained within our own little zip code. For her, the big buildings, hallways and even the escalators were impressive.

Ella enjoyed seeing the dancers and was very interested in knowing how they got so good. I tried to talk her into meeting the Snow Queen afterwards or maybe one of the Flowers (they were outside the theater doors as we headed to the stairs). I could tell she was tempted, until she saw one of the mice close by. She was NOT interested in seeing him, thank you very much.

Regardless, it was a fun treat for both of us. I hope she asks to go again next year. I'd definitely be up for it!
