Duncan has joined a new soccer club for this school year - Dynamo Juniors of Central Texas (DJCT). This club is officially affiliated with the Dynamos professional team and Houston, and has several satellite programs across many of the major cities in Texas.
In an effort to get the kids excited about the upcoming season, DJCT hosted a tournament in Houston last weekend. The kids got to watch the Dynamos practice, tour their stadium and watch them play a game. They also played 3 friendly games against the other teams in the league.
It was hotter than hell, but despite the heat, Duncan enjoyed getting back on the field and meeting many of his new teammates. As it turns out, he knew a couple of the kids already - one from River Ridge and then another from last season when they had both played on opposing teams with Lone Star.
In my non-professional opinion, at the get-go, it seems like the team he's on this year has a bit more depth in terms of talent, which is huge. The diversity of talent levels on last year's Lone Star team was pretty extreme, which was a major issue for a number of reasons. So dialing that back in terms of being a major mental and physical hurdle is significant. The kids on Duncan's team seem really great as well, as do the parents.
As soon as we get this year's schedule, I'll post it here for anyone who is interested in coming to a game.
