All three kids started their new school years this past Monday, and for the first time ever, they are each in different schools.
Duncan is now at Canyon Ridge Middle School and so far is loving it. He's riding the bus to school, which he hasn't done since we've lived in Houston. While it's not as cool as riding his bike - which he did last year and was hoping to do this year - he still has a bunch of friends on the bus and is enjoying it.
Classes seem to be going well. Most of this week has been spent getting oriented about procedures and giving some insight on what they will be focusing on in the upcoming year. There's been essentially no homework yet, but we know that will be coming soon.
Ella Peyton is still at River Ridge Elementary this year, but because she is now in 2nd grade, she has moved to the opposite end of the building where the "older" kids are. Her teacher Mrs. Thomas, seems very nice, young, but very nice. She has both a masters in education and a good reputation around River Ridge, so between those two things, we feel pretty good about who Ella Peyton has landed with at this point.
Stuart is still in the Armadillos classroom at School in the Hills, but has gained a new teacher this year, Mr. Chris. We were VERY sad to see his teacher from last year go (Ms. Elaine). She was wonderful in every sense of the word and Stuart completely adored her. That said, he also really likes Mr. Chris. Mr. Chris has been a lead teacher in one of the other primary classrooms and would often be in Stuart's room at the beginning of the day before school started, so Stuart is very familiar with him and enjoys him quite a bit. Despite the changing of the guards in Stuart's class, I think this is shaping up to be a nice school year for him as well.
