The Girl Scout and Brownie troops at River Ridge Elementary organized a Halloween Candy Drive benefiting the Austin Children's Shelter this year. All candy collected was donated to the Children's Shelter as their primary source of trick-or-treating candy (they do not have the children/families leave the shelter for trick-or-treating). Representing the 2nd grade, Ella Peyton's troop helped support the drive, by collecting and counting candy each day for a week.
I'm excited to report that the troops collected over 250 bags of candy, with 2nd grade being the highest donating class! Way to go girls!!
