As a special birthday treat, we went out to King's Orchard in Plantersville to pick strawberries today. They have several other things that they grow - fruit, vegetables, and flowers - and you can go pick your own basically any time and depending on what's in season. Today we had the choice of strawberries, rhubarb, lettuce and/or flowers.
The strawberries are small this year because of the heat, but so far, the ones we've taste-tested have been very sweet. They should be perfect over some angel food cake tonight!
