Getting Caught Up - February

To celebrate her birthday, Ella Peyton had her first slumber party! The girls were wined and dined (sort of) with a trip to the movie theater to see Escape from Planet Earth followed by dinner at Waterloo Ice House. They then proceeded home to have some cupcakes and paint pillowcases before heading off to sleep. The girls all headed home the next morning completely exhausted, but they all seemed to have had a good time.

Sweet Ella Peyton had her 7th birthday!!!

As a special treat, we signed up for a cooking class at Central Market - Dinner Party with Aunt Pearl. The class featured none other than Joe Sears from Greater Tuna playing Aunt Pearl Burrass the entire time. It was great. Food was delicious and Joe is an absolute stitch. Apparently he does cooking classes there with some frequency, so we'll definitely be on the lookout for the next one!

Duncan Claiborn got braces. Such a big kid!!!

Ella Peyton went with a bunch of girls from the neighborhood to Painting with a Twist. At this place, the girls are taught how to copy a certain painting and get to take home their creation. You'll note that Ella Peyton was not interested in her painting looking exactly like anyone else's. That's my girl. :)

Duncan's soccer team had their first away tournament in Houston. They got to play 2 games on a Saturday (unfortunately both of which they lost) and then got rained out on Sunday. So, not the most accomplished weekend ever with soccer, but on the upside, we got to visit  with a number of good friends and old neighbors while we were there.

Ella Peyton learned to ride her bike with no training wheels! She honestly probably could have ditched the training wheels last year, but with the slope of our street and as little as the kids play out front, we really haven't spent time on bikes much. At any rate, she seized the day on Feb 4th and essentially took right off. As you can tell from her grin, she's really excited about it!
