Ice Days

Thanks to the polar vortex, the kids have had two inclement weather days, aka "ice days" in the past week. Being native Texans, and especially having grown up in Houston and Austin, this was an especially big deal for these guys.

The first blast we got on the 24th was mostly sleet with some freezing rain, and to them, the sleet might as well have been snow. They loved it. It had come in overnight and lasted the better part of the next day.

The second round we got on the 28th was mostly just freezing rain, so not as much fun to play in. They had to watch out where they walked so as to not slip and fall. It did make for excellent icicles though.

As much fun as it is, we're hoping for no more inclement weather days this year. The kids already have two make up days for school on the calendar now- one at the end of April and the other being Memorial Day. Not sure when the school would add any additional days to the school calendar if they had to. Let's hope we don't have to find out!
